Reduce the Risk of Mosquito Bites and Mosquito-borne Diseases

These preventive measures may help to reduce your chance of mosquito bites:

  • Decrease the breeding sites around your home by emptying standing water from items around the home where mosquitoes can lay eggs.
  • Avoid shaded and wooded areas where mosquitoes are in greater numbers.
  • Wear long sleeved shirts and long pants with socks and shoes when outdoors.
  • Limit outdoor activities between dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are more active.
  • Maintain screens on windows and doors to keep mosquitoes outside.
  • Consider applying insect repellents to exposed skin.

Avoidance is the best plan for mosquitoes and their bites and diseases.
